« Archer High Yellow Jackets? I say yes! »

Archer High Yellow Jackets?  Has a ring to it.

Mountain View High Yellow Jackets?  That would work too.

As to the principals of Gwinnett County two newest high schools, one of their tasks is to choose a mascot and color scheme for their schools.  I am here to start the campaign for "Yellow Jackets" to be the nickname of one of these two schools.  We have had a "Bulldogs" for years.  We have a fairly new school that uses that odious UGA "G" logo (ok...UGA ripped that off of the Green Bay Packers, but try convincing folks around here of that!).  The time is now to tip Gwinnett's cap to the crown jewel of the University System of Georgia, the Georgia Institute of Technology!  Here's to seeing a facsimile of America's favorite mascot, Buzz, gracing the uniforms of Archer or Mountain View when they take the football field this fall!

Since I live next to Mountain View HS (exactly what mountains can be seen from this school? I can't see any!) I vote enthuastically to name 'em the YELLOW JACKETS!!!

Concerning nomenclature, Twin Rivers Middle School is at the other end of my road - exactly WHAT twin rivers does the name refer to?

And since I grew up down the street from the Archers, I would be cool with nameing Archer HS for the Jackets.

I am close to Archer so I prefer that one, but either would do. I would become an immediate fan (after my beloved Black Knights of course!).

Cobb has Sprayberry, Thomas County has Thomas County Central, Calhoun has Calhoun High, Fort Mill, SC has Fort Mill High and Anderson, SC has T.L. Hanna. All these schools, among many others, are Yellow Jackets. Why doesn't Gwinnett have a Yellow Jackets yet???

My daughter, who will attend Archer next year, is under the impression that the mascot has already been decided-- the Armadillos.

As a diehard Bulldogs fan, `Yellow Jackets` will be just fine with me... given the alternative.

I am not a huge Jackets fan primarily because they have dominated one of MY teams, who I won't mention (Miami), repeatedly over the past couple years, although my other team made up for it recently.
However, three reasons I support you on this:

1) I do not know of any other Yellow Jacket teams other than GT in the area.

2)The first middle/junior high school I went to growing up in New Orleans had the Yellow Jacket as a mascot. (Yes, I am an LSU fan also....I have a "LEGAL" dual citizenship between Miami and New Orleans and am close to completing my time in residency requirements for an Atlanta citizenship).

3)I believe Georgia Tech "soley" won the National Championship in the early 90's and Colorado should not have shared it due to their notorius "5th down play" which allowed them to continue their drive and/or score the winning points. I say we petition the NCAA to revoke Colorado's bogus share of that championship!
Aaaaa-nd on the lighter side.........

[...] could they have chosen two more boring, generic mascots?  Yellow Jackets would have been vastly superior to either of these!  Oh well, I guess it is ok that our county is [...]
