My name is Derek Brian. I am nearly a lifelong Gwinnett resident and currently reside in Loganville. I grew up in Lawrenceville and am a product of Gwinnett County Schools. I hold a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA in Finance from the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. I am currently employed as an engineer with a major mobile communications company.
I am a traditional social and political conservative with a pinch of libertarianism thrown in for flavor. My Christian faith influences my thinking significantly. I believe in personal liberty, personal responsibility, and limited government. Where government does have a necessary role, I believe that government should be efficient and responsive to the people, not to the politicians. I am pro-business and do not believe that development is a four-letter word. Developers are members of the Gwinnett community and virtually all Gwinnett residents have benefited from their projects.
In my spare time, I enjoy computing, investing, reading, working around my house, attempting to play golf and spending time with friends and family. I am a die-hard Georgia Tech football fan and have had season tickets since 2000. I actively follow Formula 1 racing and am a big fan of Ferrari.
